Ballmer Readies His Soapbox

Not that Soapbox. Rather, Microsoft’s new video sharing site, which officially launched for testing this month.
A recent Business Week article discusses the company’s entrance into the already crowded market that is online video sharing.
Whether or not the company will buy to add the people, ideas and technology to its nascent video project is anyone’s guess. However, the article mentions possible acquisition candidates in Revver, Veoh, Guba and Metacafe.
So What? Microsoft’s entrance is not likely to be met with much excitement unless the company can develop a truly killer app that users simply cannot find anywhere else. However, Microsoft has done it before and shouldn’t be counted out…ever.
