Monetize the Website from the Start?

Dosh Dosh has a great post discussing the merits of Adsene-ready themes for Wordpress users.
The question I have for you is should you aim to monetize your website from the beginning? Conventional wisdom says wait, build your audience and monetize later. It’s working for MySpace, taking shape for YouTube and could be the way to run your blog or small business site.
What’s right for you? Depends on your site, your audience and your ability to wait. Some companies need to monetize as soon as possible while others have the resources or the patience to wait things out until the audience grows. Ultimately, it’s your call but certainly not an easy decision.
