The Web-It’s All About the Community

The more I blog, the more exposure I get to this unique sub culture on the Internet. Not only have I found unique insights and terrific information but I’ve also found a genuine sense of community. Over the past several weeks, I’ve found several sites who are willing to volunteer their time and insight by sponsoring “blog improvement” features.

Sure, this is a great idea for driving traffic to their site, but it’s also a great way for bloggers to get free feedback from other bloggers. Through shared experiences we can all improve the effectiveness, traffic, and appearance of each other’s blogs.

Here are few of the ones that I’ve found so far:

Everton Blair of Connected Internet was kind of enough to include me in his Pimp My Blog feature, in which other users of his site critique your blog and give you feedback regarding design, traffic building, monetization, etc.

Easton Ellsworth of Business Blogwire recently launched Pass the SOAP, which stands for Scratch One Another Program. The goal here is to find bloggers seeking advice and have them give advice to others in return. Those who sign up before March 31st, will also receive feedback from Easton as well.

Search Engine Journal is sponsoring SEO Clinic in which, each week, a group of SEO experts will band together and lend their expertise to one selected site with their SEO knowledge.

Of course all of these services are free and a great way to improve your site. I’m sure all of these sites wouldn’t mind the traffic or you signing up for their RSS feeds as a result of visiting their sites. Check them out!

Thanks and good to meet you. I didn’t really know about those other two programs - although I think I had heard of them a bit. I’ll have to check ‘em out.

SOAP is going so well - about 90 people have signed up in about 3 weeks - that I am strongly considering building a new blog around it. Any ideas would be welcome.

I really enjoy giving free blogging tips to others and watching as they help each other improve their blogs. I think we’ll see more and more structured blog consulting efforts emerge as a generation (using the term loosely) of bloggers gains wisdom and experience.
