Review - The Thinking Blog

Now here’s something worth doing. Review a site for a chance at a redesign of your site. Now that’s valuable. So instead of wrestling with how to disclose to your readers that you’re getting paid for a review, I’d rather just share an opportunity with my readers along with a review of my own (goodness knows my site wouldn’t be hurt by some enhancements).
In exchange for a review, Ilker will give users:
*Two linkbacks from highly ranked URLs (priceless I tell you)
*Best review gets a free full blog re-design (worth $2000)
*Second best review gets a free favicon design (worth $20)
If you want to review this blog, link to the blog’s home page with the anchor text “graphic design” and link to this post showing the rules. Here is a very simple example but you get the idea of what he’s looking for:
The Thinking Blog has a great graphic design and by reviewing it you can enter the contest to win a free re-design for your blog!
You could also mention any other posts as part of your review. Don’t forget to email him when the post goes live.
As for My Review
The site is designed very well and covers a wide range of topics from “ads” to “urban” and lots in between with quick blog posts that don’t bore you. Quick subject matter is always appealing to me. That’s not to say the content is trite - check out this post entitled Pictures Worth A Thousands Words. Enough said.
In considering this review contest, I was most impressed with the results of the winners. As you see, the change from old to new was substantial…see here and here for some of the designs that Ilker has done.
This type of competition is certainly good for building traffic. The Thinking Blog is up to 563 RSS subscriptions so it certainly seems to be gaining some traction. However, I can’t help but wonder if the site couldn’t benefit from a bit more focus to draw readers in for a specific purpose or if it would benefit from covering a few topics within the same genre.
Overall a great site and a great opportunity for readers to benefit simply by reviewing the site.

A very phocused review.. no, I mean seriously! Nice, short and to the point.
“if the site couldn’t benefit from a bit more focus to draw readers in for a specific purpose or if it would benefit from covering a few topics within the same genre.”
I have to ask my 563 readers about that! =)
Thank you, I really appreciate this feedback.
