Mobile TV-Has the Future Arrived?

Great piece over on the Compete Blog about the development of the mobile tv market.
As the piece points out interest in watching tv on mobile phones is not insignficant,
Of 2,500 of customers surveyed, 13% indicated that they would be interested in watching TV and videos on their wireless phones, with men more likely to adopt (17%) than women (12%). When asked about specific content that they would be interested in watching, Big-4 customers reported that live TV was the most appealing.
An early winner would appear to be Verizon Wireless, thanks to its launch of V-Cast Mobile TV.

The industry can thank Verizon’s hefty ad budget which by promoting V-CAST Mobile TV has led to a 104% increase in consumers evaluating the service on VerizonWireless.com.
So What? Is this viable medium? Will it be the way many viewers consume content? I think the answer to that one is resounding “YES!” We are increasingly “must have it now culture.”
Why wait to get home to your Tivo after a long business trip when you can have content “Sling“ed to you? While you’re at it, why not Sling it to your mobile so you don’t even have to wait to get back to the hotel room?
Certainly seems to be the way of the future…if not the present.
