Business 2.0 Void?

As you’ve probably heard by now, Business 2.0 will be closing its doors. While many in the business community dismissed it as an also-ran in the world of business periodicals, I found that it was just beginning to hit its stride during the rise of another 2.0 - Web 2.0.

With writer’s such as Om Malik, a nice network of blogs and a strong focus on all things tech and business, the magazine really hit a sweet spot for me. Working in business development in technology and media, their coverage of industry changes, new companies and developing business models was always much appreciated.
Now, I can’t help but wonder, “Who will fill the void?” BusinessWeek devotes coverage to tech as does Fortune, but tech is only a small subset of what they attempt to cover. And when events such as the Sub-prime mess occur, you won’t see more than an article devoted to this constantly evolving industry.
Some suggest that Fast Company offers an alternative. While I find it innovative and creative, it seems to focus more on a wide swath of topics…kind of a cutting edge BusinessWeek, if you will.
Wired is another option but I find it much too focused on the technical and science behind the scenes across a variety of technologies. It’s focus on the web tends to be limited and when present, does not address the underlying business models.
Don’t get me wrong, I love these magazines for what they provide and continue to find value from them but long for something more in-depth in my area of interest - the web.
So What?
Therefore, I’m left to ponder, is there any one periodical that I can expect to find dedicated coverage to technology and the business behind it? For now, I will continue to get my info from my heavy use of blogs, bits and pieces from the aforementioned magazines and the Wall St. Journal, but I’ll still miss that monthly magazine devoted to all things 2.0.

I think blogs will continue to be the dominating info banks for professionals like us. However it is so unfortunatet that we won’t have business 2.0 anymore. I truly enjoyed reading some of its stories. I think there has to be a new magazine to fill the void since i Believe that the editorial flavor of business 2.0 was different than wired or fortunes or businessweek, but the questions is that who would want to do it?
Brendan,
Personally, I dropped my Business 2.0 subscription a year ago - I found that I would read the magazine and never learn anything new. They did a good job highlighting some innovative companies and obscure topics - but it read too much like a press release with no depth. I find the same thing with Businessweek sometimes too. These days, the monday Boston Globe business section on Innovation fills that void for me locally with the WSJ kicking up the rest.
I’d say lets start something in this area, but I remember the old Red Herring (which I heard was revived) and now Business 2.0 is dead… just a hard nut to crack I guess.
